Vestry Meeting update

Damien met with the vestry today and gave them an update on the process and where we were.  Essentially we are waiting now for publication by the diocese and then the applications to come in.  Two potential candidates have expressed an interest in the position already, both of whom have come to the church on an exploratory basis ;)

The search committee chair has had a telephone interview with one of these candidates and will be meeting with them soon.

Position Description Outline Finished

The committee finished the final draft of the position description outline and sent it in to the diocese to review - and if there are no objections, that now becomes the basis for advertising the position. There will be a newsletter appearing in the narthex on Sundays giving some details about the PDO, but for more specific questions please see a member of the committee.

Newsletter Published

A newsletter is published for those not computer savvy, and is available monthly in the Narthex, and will be given to all members who request one (and maybe even to those who don't!).  Future newsletters will include summaries of the PDO and information about candidates applying.  Feel free to ask questions at any time to any search committee members.

Search Committee Meeting 1

Full search Committee meets in the church Hall. After a call to order and an opening prayer, open issues were discussed:

a) What the committee had to accomplish

b) A discussion about finances, and the number of churches in the diocese that are also looking for priests

c) Discussions on congregational involvement

d) Division of the work outlined in the Position Description Outline. (PDO)

The main work for the committee at this stage is the Position Description Outline.  In layman's terms, this is our Churches "advertisement" for a new priest.  It's long but includes everything from the history of the parish to the type of Vicar we would like and the nurture and mission of the church.  Each committee member is to accomplish one or two sections of the PDO and discuss via email in draft form with other members in order to produce a final draft.  Some sections will require congregational input in the form of questionnaire (details forthcoming).

A meeting was set for three weeks time on Sunday 21st May 2017 for final Drafts compilation.
